Hello All,

Does anyone in the UK know what to do with unwanted supplies?

I have recently changed to a different pouch as the ones I was using didn't stick to me as well as they used to ( Sensura Mio)

I'm still deciding which new brand I will carry on with, they all stick . Some drain better, some crinkle more, some have thin coverings. None seem perfect,  maybe I'm too fussy !

Thanks

Hello Poppy.
My stoma nurses encourage us to send any unwanted supplies to them for distribution to those in need.

It might be worth a try to contact your nearest stoma department to see if they have similar arrangements.

Best wishes

I’ve only been on this site a little bit, I hardly know how to navigate it, LOL! I just want to say that everyone seems so kind and supportive to each of the members and it’s not only helpful, it makes me happy that there really are so many nice people in this world that can sometimes feel so bleak and cold. I didn’t even know about this site until I found it by accident. I think the hospital staff should bring it to their patients’ attention. Thanks to all, even if you’re just listening!

Jacob's wishing well is one of many UK charities collecting ostomy products to send to third world countries.

If you have an IA support group near you, they may be collecting or know of someone local who is sending them to third world countries; that would avoid you having to pay any postage sending them to any of the charities.

I'm very fussy; some sound like cheap carrier bags rustling every time you breathe or move, lol.

When I changed brands, I gave mine to the stoma nurse I was visiting.  They give them to folks who don't have insurance.

Thanks for the replies.

My unwanted supplies are now packed up and will be on their way soon to Jacobs Well.

Still undecided which pouch to use. Mmmm.
