I have been avoiding shellfish since my ileostomy on 12/7/17. Actually, I eat everything anytime, anywhere. I have never had an issue. This is just my experience.

Mostly ditto, but I've had a little issue with Fresh Oysters.

Me too, especially shrimp, clams and scallops.

I’ve only been on this site a little bit, I hardly know how to navigate it, LOL! I just want to say that everyone seems so kind and supportive to each of the members and it’s not only helpful, it makes me happy that there really are so many nice people in this world that can sometimes feel so bleak and cold. I didn’t even know about this site until I found it by accident. I think the hospital staff should bring it to their patients’ attention. Thanks to all, even if you’re just listening!

Same, no problems with them and I never had blockage until about 10-15 years after my ostomy. It's adhesions that caught up with me now, after over 30 years, that cause my problems eating. Just try everything in small amounts and bin those foods to avoid lists; they do more harm than good, giving people a fear of eating something for no reason.

One of the things I have in the freezer all the time is shrimp. I never have a problem eating them.

I eat cooked shellfish without any problems. I am certain eating the shells will give you problems.......
