Why can't we have pineapple? It's my favorite food. Has anyone had a problem with a certain food, like tomato, popcorn, or seeds? Is it that we can have them in the beginning or just stay away forever?

Pineapple is very fibrous. It can cause blockages. Try pineapple juice instead for the flavor of pineapple without the danger of a blockage.

Do you have a colostomy or an ileostomy? With a colostomy, you can eat like before; with an ileostomy, you have to be careful.

I have an ileostomy for a little more than 2 years, and I'm eating a lot of food that they say you shouldn't eat. I try small amounts and chew it thoroughly, and if I'm good with that, I increase the amounts, still chewing thoroughly. The only thing I haven't tried is popcorn.

Some can and some can't eat pineapple; just how it goes with all foods is just trial and error to see what's right for you. I can't eat pineapple; the last time I did, I was in the hospital for 5 days. They were just thinking about taking me for surgery, and the blockage cleared itself just in time. Always try food at least 3 times, even years apart, as our digestive system is always changing, just like life. I can eat most things; it's adhesions that cause my problems. Today, I could eat an apple problem-free, then tomorrow is another story!

I have an ileostomy and eat popcorn all the time.  Pineapple, no.

I have an ileostomy and eat pineapple all the time, but I chew it really well and then still usually have to spit out the really fibrous bits.

I eat everything all the time, like all the above. Introduce things slowly; don't punish yourself by not eating what you want to.
