Seeking Recommendations for a Wide Ostomy Belt in Canada

My wife currently has several narrow ostomy belts provided free of charge from manufacturers.  Recently her Surgeon and Ostomy Nurse recommended that she use a wider belt to provide better support.  I've been looking at the Nu-Comfort but they don't seem to want to sell their products as they have not responded to any of my email enquiries.  Just wondering if anyone can recommend a wide belt (preferably something available in Canada) for an ileostomy?

There’s all kinds of belts on Amazon.

Those are just the first couple that popped up. The NU-Hope belts take some specific measurements, you may want an ostomy nurse to help you with that if you don’t feel comfortable with measuring correctly. As far as who ships what to Canada, no help there. Good luck.

When I found this web site, I didn't think its name had anything to do with actually meeting an ostomate but I later learned there were some folks who did meet and develop relationships. How good is that? That wasn't my intention. I definitely didn't want anyone to meet me. I felt broken and wasn't prepared to express those feelings. I thought it was a place where ostomates wrote about themselves, posed questions, shared thoughts, told jokes and, sometimes, just vented. I thought of it as a community of folks with similar interests and various degrees of experience. Mostly I found some of the most caring, selfless, wise and understanding people I ever imagined. I was so impressed with some of the writings; not because of their literary value but the way in which they addressed such a very complex environment. I read hundreds of exchanges and admired the way folks cared for each other. I became hopeful with my own situation and looked forward to the next day's offerings. Certainly some contributors stood out with their experience or particular skills in addressing some things but it seemed like a total effort with synergistic results. I felt blessed to have found this site. I still do.

Nu-Hope and Stealth were recommended to me by my ostomy nurse.

I've had no luck getting information from Stealth even after their recent management change. I need a custom belt due to having 2 ostomies so I need information to order but you may be fine ordering off their website.

But Nu-Hope was responsive.

I found it impossible to figure out the correct measurements for a belt online.  As AlexT suggested, try to get an ostomy nurse to help you.  I did and have ordered a belt from Nu-Hope for my parastomal hernia.

Yup, I got a Nu-Hope belt.  No prob, available in Canada.  Check here:

https://www.canmeddirect.ca/ostomy-products/shop-by-brand/nu-hope/nu-comfort-belts.html

or just use Google  "Nu-Comfort Ostomy Belt +canada"

I didn't have a problem measuring, just followed the directions.  Bear in mind as well that these belts are adjustable and are elasticized.

Thanks, it was the first place I looked.  We have a similar selection, albeit more expensive, on Amazon.ca but I don't rely on their reviews as many are made up and the products are not from any recognized, reputable brands.

Thanks.  Right under my nose!  That is the company that we get my wife's ostomy supplies from so I'll give it a try.

Thanks.   Nu-Hope never responded to my emails.  Someone else pointed out that their belt is available from the company we order our ostomy supplies from so I will give it a try.

Thanks.  We have an Ostomy Nurse who is currently visiting monthly so I'll ask her to help figure out the size of the Nu-Hope belt.
