I had a peristomal hernia/prolapse repaired recently. Ostomy nurse crusted me, and I immediately developed a leak behind my wafer. So, summary judgment: crusting bad, nurse bad. I have bleeding around my stoma from the badly irritated skin, so nothing sticks. The wafer doesn't stick. Hydrocolloid rings don't stick. Oh wait, my poo sticks superbly and has massively irritated my skin. Is there any solution that will stick to my skin as well or better than my own poo? Thank you for your suggestions.

Hi there. What products do you use (bag, wafer, powder, skin barrier wipe/spray)?

Hi B,

Sounds like you'll need to get some aluminum acetate powder (Domeboro or generic) at any pharmacy or online and use it as described. It'll calm down your skin so stuff will stick. You'll need to do it pretty frequently at first to get the skin to heal, and then use it sparingly until your skin is back to normal. There's usually a $4 coupon on Domeboro's website, and if you use CVS, they frequently send 40% off coupons if you're on their email distro. If you need more info, just shout.
