PERSONALITY SUPPORT SYSTEMS (2).
                        (a stoma simile).

I’ve thought about this subject and
tried my best to understand
and to use a bit of wisdom
to find a useful support system.

Paranoia can be a case
where the problems that we face
are guided by the simple fact
that it’s about the way we act.

If our thoughts are not let out,
especially if we do not shout
or rant and rave persistently,
we might get on consistently.

Now, thoughts that trouble us, are known
to be quite effortlessly shown
to anyone and everyone
who might listen, ‘till we’re done.

But this can be a burden to
those who get too close to you
and, as they don’t know what to do,
they don’t know how to follow through.

So, once one’s problems have been shared,
then those people should be spared
any further repetition
of a paranoid condition.

For repetition can result
in a kind of slight insult
because the person must have heard
so to repeat might seem absurd.

I’ve searched around a bit, to find
I have a simile in mind
that might explain the angst and pain
when people rant, time and again.

PERSONALITY SUPPORT SYSTEMS (2).
                        (a stoma simile).  (continued ->)
Paranoia and stomas are
in certain ways quite on a par
with regard to ranting and
the fact that folks don’t understand.

Folks with stomas have this thing
stuck on their side, so it will bring
all sorts of thoughts that they need to
share with others, that is true.

But what most stoma folks have found
is ranting can become a sound
that often will put people off
just like an irritating cough.

It’s okay if it’s once or twice
but more than that, it isn’t nice
and people tend to back away
no matter what we want to say.

Stoma people cope with shit
but other people don’t want it
explained in detail every day
and so, they tend to drift away.

Unfortunately, it’s our fate
that stoma problems don’t abate
and we need folk to talk to who
understand what we go through.

Thus, we have found the internet
where we can rant and rave and get
support from people just like us
who sometimes need to rant and cuss.

Those people who are paranoid
do not need to get annoyed
with their partners and their friends
if they find folks with the same trends.

With problems of personality
the internet’s the palace to be.

Hi Bill,

You've definitely come to the right place to find support and understanding from a large community of folks who get it. We all have our unique ways of dealing with the challenges that come with having a stoma, and sharing those experiences can be incredibly helpful.

Your thoughts on how sharing too much can sometimes push people away really resonate. It's a delicate balance, isn't it? Finding the right people to share with, who truly understand, makes all the difference. That's why spaces like this are so valuable. Here, you can express yourself freely without worrying about overwhelming others who might not fully grasp what you're going through.

Joining this website was one of the best decisions I've made. It's been life-changing to connect with others who understand the ups and downs of living with a stoma. I hope you find the same sense of community and support here.
