I've tried a number of odor eliminator products that just don't work, as well as some of the suggestions offered here. What I now use is an enzyme odor digester spray that I have used for years around the house to destroy pretty much any odor that exists. It works on pet odors and refreshes couches and carpets. I purchase it at a local Soap Exchange store, but I just found a product at Home Depot that you can purchase by the gallon! And there are many similar products online - just search for enzyme odor remover.

Can you please share a link to the one that works for you?
Also, are you sure it's safe? My stoma nurse told me to only put things that are okay to eat in the bag…

I am scheduled for my reversal on 12/4. All my pre-admin stuff is completed and my GI signed off on the clearance letter this morning. I am super excited and looking forward to not having a bag. I just hope all goes well and heals well so I don't wake up with a temp bag which will lead to yet another surgery.

I have learned a lot from this website and will continue to be on here even after surgery. To all the ostomates out there, keep your heads up and keep pressing forward. We all have good and bad days. Best of luck to you all.

I will be sure to post my progress after surgery. I'm praying for you all.

Febreze in America does the same thing. However, I would not be putting it into my bag.

Dunno about the drinking/eating comment the stoma nurse suggests.. 🤔

I use M9. It works in the bag. If it doesn't work for you, then I guess you have some serious poop to deal with, but others here will agree, M9. No fuss. No mess. A bit pricey. But worth it. It comes in a thumb-sized bottle, easily taken with you. Very discreet.

As for external smells, candles work effectively if no exhaust fan or window is in the bathroom..

Wow, I've never heard that. What about other anti-odor products like the Diamonds gelling sachets? And lubricants?

These products are enzymes: "The biological processes that occur within all living organisms are chemical reactions, and most are regulated by enzymes. Without enzymes, many of these reactions would not take place at a perceptible rate."

The one I buy is at a local soap shop and isn't online. It's a "green" store, supplying only biodegradable products in refillable packaging. There's probably one in your area.

I wish it were that simple for those of us in the UK. They don't sell the M9 drops here. I actually spoke to Hollister yesterday, asking them if they can start bringing the M9 drops to the UK, and they said no. I still haven't found a decent replacement.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear; the stoma nurse said if I want to try something that wasn't designed for ostomy care, it must be edible.

Yes. I feel badly it's not available in the UK, but it could be sent to you from America.😁

I guess it boils down to the cost of doing that.

I mean, why can't something like that be done for those where the product isn't available? Like networking a product privately?

This member from Fiji, for example, has friends or people here in America who can help him out.

You guys also have the salt rings. We don't. Or was that Canada?

??

Anyhoo, there's always a plan. In this case, shipping cost affects that a lot...

I don't think this is illegal. I mean, will the stink police come after us?🤔🤣

I use hydrogen peroxide and a little bit of Hollister Adapt lubricant and deodorant (not much of a deodorant). The peroxide kills bacteria, and the lubricant helps things slide. I would worry about your stoma absorbing what you put in your bag. I've used peroxide to brush my teeth when I had gum problems, which my dentist recommended, so it's safe.

Can you tell me how much you use exactly and what deodorant? Trying to help my mother.
