Anyone experiencing difficulty taking care of an ostomy due to severe numbness in fingertips? I have an ileo with a clamp closure on the pouch. Using a Velcro opening makes it even more difficult to rinse and drain. Any ideas would be appreciated.

G-Day MOST52,

You could use the IGGIE CLIP to close the end of the bag. See the photo.

Very helpful

Try wearing thin latex gloves or something similar and see if it adds any sensitivity to your fingers. It might not help, but it's worth a try.

I have lasting neuropathy in my feet from chemotherapy. I'd hate to have it in my hands. I had it in the hands to some extent while on chemotherapy, and that's what made me choose Velcro bags because I had a tough time with the clips. Hope you find a solution or it goes away; it's very annoying to deal with. Could you use a small pair of pliers to press Velcro bags closed? Like purse pliers….

Thank you, but my grip is close to zero. Kind of you to think of solutions.

I think I'll try that. The problem is made worse because of Convatec pouches. The opening sticks together, even after the first time. I have reported this to them. They don't seem to try to fix it. Thank you!

Pinch the hard part of the opening in half so there's a crease to help open it, and it won't suction/stick to itself.
