I am at my wit's end with my Coloplast light convexity causing pressure sores. I am using hydrocolloidal barriers, but the rigidity of the convexity is not allowing any healing to take place. I tried to go back to a Hollister flat, but I blew right through with a major leak, luckily at the end of school. I tried a Marlen product, which worked well, but I am not sure which to order. I contacted them for samples. One piece or two piece does not matter anymore; I am just looking for something with less rigidity. I would appreciate any sage advice.

You need some rigidity to make the convexity work. I find the Coloplast SenSura Mio to be much less rigid than the Hollister I used in the hospital.

At this point, you'll probably need to give up on convexity. Try Convatec. I've heard good things about their moldable barrier. Try calling for samples and see if you can talk to one of their ostomy nurses.

I began my Urostomy life February 27th, 2023...a month and a half ago. I stumbled upon this site from another on Youtube and website called VeganOstomy and between that site and this one, most of my fear and worry of not having any answers other than calling the Dr's office recording menu and hoping to hear back in the next day or two for an answer to leaks, skin irritations etc, or just feeling alone and the "no one understands" thoughts I had to look forward to in my mind were all put to rest by these two websites and the community here at MaO!! I have been here for a few weeks now, and the help and support offered by the members here is just amazing!! The information and support is absolutely priceless for anyone recently out of their surgery and have tons of questions or had it for years...sit down...have a good read and you will see for yourself!!

I've had good luck with Convatec materials, plus they have a system where you can have a video call with an actual ostomy nurse, which is what really helped me. She took one look at my completely innie stoma and said, “Oh, that's not even a stoma; it's more of a fistula, and this is what you need to try…” I had seen, in person, the physician assistant who was at my revision surgery, and she had zero clue how to deal with my situation. The aide in there with her was more help simply because he'd been working with his own stoma since he was a kid, but neither of them had dealt with such a recessed stoma as I possess. I have kind of a big belly, and the stoma/fistula is right at a crease where I bend, so my situation was very unique.

Are you referring to their Convex Flip or Convex Soft with Flex coupling? I have used the Flip with little pressure. I'm currently testing samples of their Soft with Flex, and it's a lot more pressure.

I use the Coloplast SenSura Flex 2-piece with my colostomy. I also use adhesive wipes first and then a barrier ring. I was using the convex appliances and found these flex ones to be more comfortable, and I have fewer leaks. My stoma sticks way out sometimes and lays flat sometimes, and I've still not had any big issues. I hope this helps.

Hi, I'm not sure if you found something new that feels better, so I wanted to share that switching from the bags they gave me at the hospital to these I found on Amazon has helped me feel way better. These are much lighter, so I barely feel that it's even on, and the backing is less sticky too, so it's much easier to change. Hoping this helps 💫
