Hi there. Five months ago, I had a stoma reversal. I've been feeling great. A few days ago, I experienced a dull ache on my right side, like a bruise. It hurts to touch. My stoma was on my left side. I'm wondering about scar tissue and if it should hurt. Also, the left side is still more swollen than the right. I also had a hernia removal and 13 more inches removed during the reversal. I just wanted to see if anyone else felt this during healing. Blessings to all.

I hope you are okay, but you need to have it checked out. I am on that same track. I had my colostomy in April, and in June, I developed an umbilical hernia. In order to get my reversal, I need to have a bariatric procedure to lose weight. The doctor said about 50 lbs should be enough to get my reversal. At that time, he would fix my hernia.

Please keep us updated, and again, I hope you will be okay.

I take part in these forums almost every day. They and the people that contribute to them have made all the difference in my having the courage to live a normal life with an ileostomy. The people here are marvelous and come from all walks of life and from all over the world. Hearing what others have lived through has really helped me put my own experience in perspective. I highly recommend all ostomates and caretakers of ostomates to come join us.

Since this is new, you should check in with your doctor. It's probably fine, but better to be sure.

Hey trishaosh69, 5 months out is not long healing-wise. Did you put any strain on the abdominals? Good idea to get it checked out. But from my experience, it took a long while for everything to knit back together properly.
