My Ostomy Association of Melbourne no longer supplies Convarcare protective barrier wipes - no sting. I have an awful time deciphering the Medicare schedule to find a replacement. Can any Australians help me out here, please?

Under the schedule, they are item number: 37444; category: BAR; product: CC: BAR CONVACARE PROTECTIVE BARRIER WIPES. Pack size: 100.

As we live quite remotely, we do not have access to a stoma nurse to discuss this.

What other barrier wipes, no sting, are available on the schedule?

G-Day Mate,

I notice you're in Broken Hill. Why do you get your products from Melbourne? Doesn't New South Wales or South Australia have a contact you can use? Why not use Welland Barrier Wipes No Sting Part No WBF060, or the one I use is Welland No Sting Barrier Spray Part No WBS050? It is very good.

Let me know how you go.

Thank you for your quick reply. I'll discuss irrigation with my doctor. I'm sure it would be down the road. My output is still very liquid. It's all so unpredictable at 6 weeks post-op. I have such a fear of constipation as I struggled with this forever. I used a fiber source to thicken the stool but it hasn't helped very much. I guess I will continue to be positive but it is a bit of a pain. This website is great and everyone is so informative. Cheryl

We were in Vic when the CA was diagnosed, so it was done in Melbourne, and we signed up for Melbourne Ostomy Ass. It is just as easy to get from Melbourne as it is from Adelaide or Sydney. Sydney is over 1000 km away, so we don't really regard it as being accessible.
