Post-op proctectomy. How do you all clean it regularly? Dry skin, so I shower 2 times a week. I had been sitting over the edge of my tub. Squeeze out a soapy rag and use the hand sprayer. Looking at possible solutions, as I am doing a total bathroom remodel and want a walk-in shower. Bidets or other devices? Help!

I was grateful my wife helped me with all that. If I recall, we removed the dressing daily, and I showered gently.

I usually shower daily, so it wasn't abnormal to have to keep this up.

Unfortunately, I don't recall what I had to put on the skin before applying the dressing.

We have a Toto bidet. I do not use it; my wife does. Do not wear too thick of a pad on your incision. It will put too much pressure on it.

I just shower normally, but I use very gentle soap and rinse with warm, not hot, water. I couldn't help with the dry skin issue, though. I had my surgery about 2 months ago.

Pretty simple here… hand-held shower head

Gets in all the nooks and crannies, just aim up. 😁 Lather up however you choose and rinse. 🤷‍♂️

Hello rievineia.
When I first had my stoma, I was sent a small, clear plastic cup (From my bag supplier)with instructions to rinse the stoma with it.
It seemed to work very effectively, and I've been doing that ever since.
However, the original cup split, so I used the clear plastic cup that my prawns come packed in. This seems to me to be exactly the same as the original cup, is just as effective, and has lasted twice as long.
Using this method allows me to clean my stoma and the surrounding area anytime without undressing. My bathing/showing etc comes after the stoma has been cleaned in this way.
We all have our own routines, and what suits one person may not suit another.
I share my routine with you hoping that it might be of some help.
Best wishes
Bill

Thanks, Bill, but this is on the other side. Ken Butt is my former tukis.

My "little buddy" is doing great. I can clean him over my sink. Use Brava adhesive remover and warm, wet paper towels. Dump the waste in a doggie bag and toss. Occasionally, I will clean him in the shower with Cetaphil and warm water. I have a handheld sprayer. Dump the cup and sauté the shrimp in garlic and oil. Yummy.

Sorry folks. Not a new proctectomy. A few years old and fully healed. My bad. Mayo had me squeeze out a soapy rag over the area a few times and rinse gently. Ergo, on the side of my tub. I have a "Big Dimple" now.

Used to stick a 4x4 between my "cheeks." Like chewing between my lips and gums (ha, ha). All healed. I looked at bidets at a large bathroom fixture store. How do I soap it up?

Kinda what I do now, sitting over the edge of my tub.

Just skip the soap.
