Hello everyone!!!!

As I previously mentioned, I needed another spinal surgery this week to prevent needing a urostomy.

Mind you, I had spine surgery #8 in July, ileostomy surgery in September, and needed another spinal surgery this week.

I am happy to report to everyone that I have come through surgery successfully. I have been able to avoid a urostomy. Unfortunately, I developed significant foot drop and lost nerve function on my left. But I am able to remedy some of this with a leg brace, so I am still able to walk.

I am so incredibly grateful that I can still walk. It may be a little different than I'm used to; but every step I get to take is a gift. 🥰

This hospital experience has been a rollercoaster - trust me, I have lots to compare it to (25+). I cannot wait to break the heck out of here tomorrow - 🤞🏻.

Thank you to all of you for your ostomy suggestions. In case you're ever in need of ostomy equipment suggestions for surgery… I can highly recommend the Coloplast SenSura Mio 11-inch bag. It has an awesome tuck-away spout and it has enough space that you don't have to call the nurse every 20 minutes to empty the damned thing. Also, the 11-inch bag was able to handle things for the full 8 hours without the need to be emptied until I was closed.

Thank you for all your warm wishes and healing thoughts. I know I have some work ahead of me - again… But I want you all to know that I do not take for granted any positive thought or supportive comment from all of you.

It's scary to have so much go so wrong to go so right in literally 6 months…. Thank you for your positivity and support.

Big hugs to you all from a hospital bed in rainy NYC.

If I was a relative newbie with an ostomy, I have no doubt that this site would be very helpful to me.  The members are quick to respond to questions and issues and they are filled with experience.  When I joined, I already had a lifetime with an ostomy, so I just regard it as a place to meet and communicate with other folks similarly situated.  Either way, it is a good site.

G-Day Rocks,

You remind me of my father; he always used to say, "If you have a problem and you worry about it but the problem never happens, then you worried for nothing. But if you do have a problem, instead of worrying about it, just fix it." In other words, don't worry.

That's how I see you, Rocks; just fix it and get on with living your life the best way you can. We all need to have your grit.

Keep on keeping on, Rocks.

Regards, IGGIE

Hi Rocks, thanks for the good news. The weather here in N. Mich. is cold, in the 30s, with snow on the way.
