I had surgery Nov 26. It was done robotically and then plastics finished it by taking muscle from my L leg. It is very uncomfortable and I have been advised to lay on R side. He didn’t tell me how long until it healed enough that I could sit. And I’m anxious to go back to sitting around on my new Barbie butt.

It varies but I could sit upright on mine about 4/5 weeks after but only for short periods of time, best of getting a gel cushion but not a doughnut one.

I had my Barbie butt in august time I was having weekly visits to dressing clinic also.

Your still well too soon really, give it another couple weeks or so and build up to it slowely. Don’t over do it and damage the healing tissue. Your bum won’t thank you for it.

Thank you so much, bigal1579. I think I will wait awhile on the cherries and sauerkraut. LOL. I have gotten some good advice. Thanks to all that have replied. I sure am happy that I stumbled onto this website.

I am 9 weeks out from my APR, and it's just starting to feel okay to sit. Up to now I've been sitting on my left or right buttock cocked off to the side. It's going to take time...

Mine healed well after a few weeks but I was still concerned about sitting because I didn't want to stress and possibly pull apart the new stitches so I took it very easy and mainly stayed off it. I used a "U" shaped cushion but only rested my upper thighs on it. I found out later that a regular cushion would have been better since the opening in the U separates the cheeks and adds stress to the closure. I believe Mr Brightside's recommendation of the gel and not a donut is for that same reason.

At some point in the future, you'll be able to sit pain free for long periods at a time. The problem then might be getting up...
