Hi Everyone!

Your people are great, I have learn more from everyone than the doctors, nurses, etc.

Have a question, had brought this up 8 weeks age. But it has me concern. As I have been back to work, doing things at home....maybe doing to much.

Had second surgery 2/1/12 for Prolapse(big time)they said it was from coughing from lung surgery I had 8 weeks after the first bowel surgery??(lung cancer). Actually I think it was the first surgery 10/7/11, emergency surgery, and they didn't have time to think it out. Been on Steriods for 40 yrs for Crohns, perianal fistula's. I am sure a mess should have been put in the first time.

Now the second time they did put messing in. BUT everyone is saying their stoma gets Smaller

as time goes on, mine seems to be getting larger. Was about the size of a dime, now it is about

the size of a Large Quarter. I am so afraid this is going to prolapse again. Or is this normal.???

I ask doctor he said don't worry about it.??? He isn't the one that has to deal with it, sometimes I think they should have to go though this just once to really understand they might be better doctors for it.

Thanks

well, our stomas changing sizes -especially in the first 6 months or so after an operation involving the intestine is totally normal -to an extent. In my 3 surgeries my stoma always slowly shrank-down smaller over the post op healing months, not grow larger, so having had you stoma prolapse already before I can see your cause for alarm. changing from the size of a dime to a quarter is a much greater size change than i expirenced in my 4 surgeries.
