Hi guys so I'm going for a sigmoidoscopy next week to check out my rectal stump to see if I can have a reversal. I've had 2 before but when I had my colon does it feel any different now it's just the stump? I found it uncomfortable and painful after it last time :-/

I take part in these forums almost every day. They and the people that contribute to them have made all the difference in my having the courage to live a normal life with an ileostomy. The people here are marvelous and come from all walks of life and from all over the world. Hearing what others have lived through has really helped me put my own experience in perspective. I highly recommend all ostomates and caretakers of ostomates to come join us.

In theory it should be a really quick scope this time if there is only the rectal stump to have a look at so it shouldnt be very uncomfortable at all. They wont be feeding loads of wires inside like the previous ones to check out your colon. It sounds like you are in pretty much the same position that i was in before my pouch reversal last year so if you have any questions then get in touch and il try and help you out atleast as far as i know from my own past experiences
