I'm wondering how many of you have "bag off" time.

I honestly believe that it's the best way to keep the peri stomal skin healthy.

I hardly ever shower with the bag on  and then I put off putting a new bag on until I start getting output. (the times I do shower with it on, the skin around the edge of the wafer gets very very itchy and red )

I'll also, in the privacy of my verandah, kick back with a cup of tea for 5 or 10 minutes, lift my shirt and get some sunlight onto the area.    It sure feels weird getting around without a pooh bag stuck to my tummy.  LOL I feel kinda naked with out it. LOL

Sure it can get mucky, but I keep some wet wipes with me just in case.

To me it's like a keeping a babies bum free from nappy rash.  You've got to give the skin a chance to be dry and to breath.

This sounds like a very worthwhile idea. Let's give our peri stomal skin a day off once in a while.    PB

Hello jjnettie.  I'm with you!  - not literally in the shower of course but certainly with having 'bag-off' time. You are so lucky to have 'sunlight'! It's been raining here for so long I'm beginning to feel that we will never see the sun again.  Best wishes  Bill

Maybe that's my problem! Peristomal skin looks like a piece of dotted swiss material in bright red!!!

But Oscar rarely stops spouting long enough to not have a mess on my hands, literally! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
