My nurse told me to shower with my pouch on. I use coloplast products and I have found that if I remove the clamp from the pouch, and take a freezer bag, cut it in half, I can put the plastic over the barrier and put the clamp back on it..it is much easier to shower with, and I go through alot less pouches. Its also more comfortable and I sometimes wear it like that in the evenings when I am not ejecting.
I have also found that getting a carefix stoma strap to go over my ostomy makes sex much less worrisome, and I feel less self-conscious. I hope these might help someone..especially recent ostomy survivors.                        Mark

I am a recent ostomy person (Aug. 3rd) and haven't heard of the carefix stoma strap you mentioned.  I also use Coloplast products...mostly.  What is the strap?

For those of you still looking for love after your ostomy... don't give up! One day, when you least expect it, there will be a message in your inbox... always remember that when you're not looking, life has a brilliant way of surprising you with someone in your life you have so much in common with, and either you make a great new friend or you will find the person you were always looking for! I, for one, thank God I found this website... I was in a low place when I first started, and now I've never been happier! ~Traci~
