Hello everyone.  I have an Indiana pouch and have experienced stoma pain from the very beginning, 6 months, mid October, 2013. 4 1/2 weeks ago, my doctor had to dialate because of stenosis. For about a week or so the catheterization was very good, except for the pain. Since then, the pain AND the cathing has become increasingly difficult. My doctor says everything is OK and I have to put up with the pain? I am not found anyone online that has any stoma pain but it very well may exist?  Any and all comments will be greatly appreciated.   Thank-You    Louie

Hi,

Stomas do not have nerves, so something else is hurting.  I would continue to ask the dr. what it is and why.  If you can't get a satisfactory answer, perhaps you can see a different doctor.

with peace, anyark

Hi Anyark. Yes. I managed to get an appointment with a local doctor for this Friday, the 25th. Hopefully, I will have some clarification. Thank-You.   Louie

Well guys. I had another dilation of the stoma and we left a catheter in for 15 days. The doctor said if this does not work he will have to do whatever to the stoma. 2 or 3 day stay in the hospital. Has anyone had to have this done? Also, when I mention the pain at the stoma, he said that may or may not clear up. Louie
