From 1996 to 2006 I was a blacksmith just for fun and I loved it. In 2006 I got very sick and I stopped  blacksmithing  bc of how sick I was. Since 06 my family has been told 18 different times to call the family in to say there good byes 4 times I have been brought back to life on the O R table. I have fought every time. I have not been happy and not my self since I got sick. Things are way better and I'm happy and comfortable with my bag. Bc I'm going back and starting back up my shop.  So I just got done making my coal burning forge and I'm looking for something to protect my bag from heat. Anyone have any ideas?  Sorry for rambling  on and thank you for your time.

Hello Dozer.

Congratulations on your efforts to move on and begin doing what you like doing again.  Being a 'smithy'  sounds like you are good with your hands and may well be up to a little job of sewing!

I have a 'plumber's thermal protection mat' (from Draper tool company) which seems as if it is the type of material that would be ideal for what you are looking for. If it were me that was trying to solve this problem I would sew one of these mats onto my hernia  belt and hey presto! ---hopefully the the solution to your problem.

Best wishes

Bill.

Hello everyone!!!

It has been almost a year since joining this site. I just wanted to share. I know a lot of people get concerned about meeting someone on here. I'm not a lifer membership and I had someone initiate to take me out. I've been divorced since 2009. He lives in Chicago. I ignored the first time thinking he was joking. I live in Milwaukee. So a month later he sent me a message through this site saying he wanted to meet me. That was in April this year. I must say it was the best thing that could happen to me. We talk almost every day. We have so much in common. He comes up all the time to spend the day or weekend together. It really does make a difference when someone has an ostomy like you. Such understanding and we always have something to talk about. I want to share because sometimes people think it's hard to meet someone or they say this site doesn't work. I'm a testimony that this site does work. We are talking marriage this time next year. I will keep you posted.

How about a good old fasioned Blacksmith's leather Apron , with , maybe a  foil panel attatched to reflect the forge heat . May be a bit of a fiddle to make , but , could  work ...
