Yay! That huge incision has finally healed! The scar is 12 inches long and very thick and hard, but it is healed. Now I have an appointment with my surgeon on May 1 to get set up with someone to do a colonoscopy through the stoma to see if the disconnected portions of my colon and rectum have healed enough for everything to be reconnected. Just carry on and wait and see.

Reconnected?

Do they really DO that?

By golly, DonBrown, you're really having a winning streak.  Good for you!  Congratulations!

I just wanted to tell all the users of this site that I really love having the opportunity to express my feelings here. I'm positive that many feel the same. I wish that all here come out of the experience you have here will be like mine. Support and understanding from others with issues similar like each other will help us all and give the relief we all crave, well, I'm selfish. I'm here because I need support. And I find enough here to help in the tough times. Thank you. I really mean it.

Well, NDY, when my colostomy was created, they allowed for the possibility, but there were no promises. The 18-inch portion of my colon that ruptured and was removed had paper-thin walls with a few precancerous polyps, so it might be possible but not desirable. We will just wait and see. For that matter, we don't know if the rupture was caused by UC or diverticulitis. At different times, I was diagnosed with both illnesses. Whatever it was could come back, but there are no symptoms of anything right now.
