why does pancaking happen . I thought I had cracked the problem using a lubricant gel and a Stoma belt with a hole for the bag , but this evening I've just had another one , I don't know why . I also am into my 6th month recovering with the perianal wounds , any advice , I'm sick of not being able to sit down at a table or drive a vehicle . I have had two different infections resulting in one admission to hospital I really am fed up .

I think You need to drink more fluids . This was why I got pancacking at the stoma. There is a fine line between your output being too liquid and too thick .

Im a heavy set guy and I had to use different stuff I finally came to a 1 peice also not sure but I can't use the colored bags it has to be clear or it sticks to my stoma and for some reason it makes my stuff create a plug where the gas blows out the sides or poop so I went back to the clear no problems there

I sometimes have that problem.  I have an ileocolostomy, but usually it is moe liquid.  I stsrted using the eakin rings and that helped with the skin irritation.

I use baby oil in my pouch as a lubricant and it can help reduce your probelm.  You dont need to use a lot.  Stay well.  Penguins7

That is interesting as I never related dehydration to pancaking.
