Um,, hi there
Do you drink lotse water and stay hydrated? Water will help with blockages for sure. I have found well cooked cauliflower, broccoli, and sweet potato don't block me but iceberg lettuce does. if i eat too many nanas they block me too, I can eat a few raw nuts but roasted nuts will send into hospital too. So even though its 20 years down the track maybe you need to rethink what works for you and what doesn't, Sorry if I,m not much help.. it's all i can come up with lol

Take care now

Hi Miyzy, I too have that problem and I am also diabetic, so the 2 diets compete with each other!
I am the same with nuts, corn and a lot of veggies, though cauliflower will thicken everything up if a bit loose.

There is a recent thread on here about ostomy and FM so you may like to have a look through that as well.

There are links to nurses on the site on the left hand side of the home page - only thing I wouild say is, don't take those pills which absorb fat in your diet, I ended up in hospital after taking those with blockage and also the bags were dropping off frequently with all the grease in the pouch - ugh!

Good luck with it all, Rachel xx

I have finally had to go to a low rediue or liquid diet. It is certainly not what I expected after all this, But hey, I'm a cheap date! Seriously, it has taken many tears, tests, and painful hosp. to come to this.  I have so many adhesions, no one wants to go in unless an emergancy. Hey, you do lose weight, but I am under the supervsion of a dietician and take suppliments.  We must realize food is really medicine to keep us healthy, to norish us.  So, get out that blender and some fresh fruits!  Also boost, ensure, applesauce, there is lots out there.

Hi catlady!

Have you found a way to eat any vegies? I'm drinking V8 type of drinks (found one with way less sodium) but am SO craving salad! I know lettuce isn't going be happening for me anytime soon.

Have you found that well-boiled or steamed vegies work for you ... or is that still too much residue? Chew lots, small bites.

" Eating Healthy" sure has changed for me since my op. I can eat fish and chips, cheesie puff snacks, pasta and sauce ... but give me one romaine lettuce leaf and all hell/pain breaks loose!

Note: I eat small portions of my new 'healthy' foods and chew very well

I'm going on 3 years now with a colostomy.  For me I have found that everything in moderation ... I can do salads .. but smaller than what I used to have. I go for small amount of lettuce and I pick the heart of the head ... not the leaf ... big difference there with the blockage problem. Then I just add all the extras I like and can do good with so its more like a chef salad.
