Has anyone had pain around there colostomy ?  I had a pain that lasted  almost 10 min and then it went away.  I was just coming from the bathroom,  it hit suddenly  just above and to the left of my stoma on my left side just about waist area.  I rubbed it and all is ok now,  I know I am  a worrier, but have never felt anything like that before.  and after my 2 trips to the ER this past  few days I am becoming  so cautious of even moving and  every litle thing that feels different.  I have  read  people talking about gas pains. could that have been ? or I also have a perastomal hernia  could that be  what it was  causing the pain.  sorry to be such a baby  but  it seems that any little change  now scares me.

Red, I experienced bad pain after havng a new stoma. The nurse suggested that I lie on my left side in the fetal position, pulling my knees up as far as I could as well as walking and it helped. I remember being scared because it was so painful,  but apparently it was just gas.

I just wanted to take the time to wish everyone a good holiday. I especially would like to thank this website and the folks that run it and keep it going. This site has been a life saver for me and I am so thankful I found it. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and Hanukka and if you don't claim either holiday, I hope you have a nice day. See you all next year!

Bagface,   I would try that but my stoma is on my left side  , I have had my colostomy  for 2 years March 14th.    have been in and out of the Hospital and ER several times,  Gallbladder last March removed,  and  Rectal bleed  nothing found,     It has been one thing after another,  Growing old is not fun.
