Anyone tried Nu-Hope non-stick ostomy bags?

This topic is about someone dealing with irritated skin around their stoma and considering using Nu-Hope "non-stick" ostomy pouches to help with healing. They are looking for advice and experiences from others who have used these products. Here are some insights and tips shared by others:

1. The Nu-Hope product line includes four adhesive foam-cushion barrier systems with varying adhesion levels and one fully non-adhesive system. The non-adhesive system uses a rubber O-ring held in place by a Nu-Hope belt, which works well if the belt is snug but may leak during vigorous activity. You can download their catalog and request free samples from their website.

2. For skin care and appliance tips:
- Clean the area with fragrance- and oil-free Yellow Dial soap. Some people avoid regular soaps and use Gentell wound cleaner or only adhesive-remover wipes.
- For raw skin, dab liquid Mylanta on the area, let it dry, and then apply a skin-prep wipe or spray.
- Popular skin-prep products include Convatec Sensi-Care, Coloplast Brava barrier spray/wipes, and Cardinal Health Protective Barrier Wipes.
- Use convex flanges and consider wearing an ostomy belt for added security.
- Many prefer Eakin Cohesive rings over paste, as they report less irritation and better seals.
- Change your appliance as soon as you feel itching to prevent leaks.
- Allow your skin some air time by showering or leaving the pouch off briefly if possible.

3. Alternative regimens shared by others:
- One person skips soap, cleans with Cardinal Health Adhesive Remover Wipes, and lightly swabs the area with diluted household chlorine before applying powder and barrier wipes.
- Another uses O’Keeffe’s Working Hands cream on broken skin, which absorbs quickly and allows flange adhesion after rinsing the skin.
- Rolling a second Eakin ring flat and placing it beneath the wafer’s fabric border can protect skin that reacts to tape.

4. Sampling and supply help:
- Many brands offer free samples of flanges, rings, and skin-prep products if you call and request them.
- Forum members have offered to mail spare Eakin rings, Coloplast wipes, and other supplies.

5. Brands, products, and resources mentioned include:
- Nu-Hope non-adhesive O-ring pouch system and belts
- Sensura Mio 2-piece convex (Coloplast)
- Bravo barrier rings & Brava adhesive remover/barrier spray (Coloplast)
- Hollister barrier rings
- Eakin Cohesive seals

- Calmoseptine ointment
