Visiting Blue Lagoon with colostomy bag?

If you're planning a trip to Iceland and are curious about visiting the famous geothermal Blue Lagoon or the more secluded Secret Lagoon with a colostomy bag, you're not alone. Many people with ostomies wonder about the safety and comfort of enjoying these unique experiences. Here's some helpful advice and insights from others who have been in your shoes:

- The Blue Lagoon staff have mentioned that bathing with an ostomy appliance "should be okay," but it's always comforting to hear from others who have tried it.

- Concerns about the lagoon's high-mineral, silica-rich water affecting pouch adhesion or damaging the wafer are common. However, many have found that their appliances hold up well in similar conditions.

- Before entering the lagoon, guests are required to shower naked. If this makes you uncomfortable, there are a few private cubicles available for use.

- For more personal experiences and discussions, you might want to check out a previous conversation on this topic at https://www.meetanostomate.org/discussion-forum/viewtopic.php?t=2489.

- People who have used hot tubs, even on cruise ships, report no issues with wafer adhesion or stoma comfort. They believe the temperature of the Blue Lagoon should not pose any additional risk.

- Overall, if you generally tolerate hot tubs well and the Blue Lagoon management has confirmed it's safe, you can likely expect a similar experience in the lagoon.
