Coloplast's Sensura Mio - High Volume Solution!

This topic is about a new product from Coloplast called the Sensura Mio "Jumbo" Pouch, which is designed to help people with high-output ostomies reduce the number of times they need to empty their pouch at night.

Here are some helpful insights and advice based on experiences shared:

1. The Coloplast Sensura Mio kit includes a skin barrier, an elastic barrier ring, and two interchangeable two-piece pouches. It features a standard-length pouch for daytime and an extra-long pouch for nighttime, which can hold over 1 liter of output.

2. By using the regular pouch during the day and switching to the extra-long pouch at night, one user was able to reduce their night-time emptying from four times to two.

3. The user was so impressed with the results that they decided to switch all their supplies from Hollister to Coloplast. Coloplast is providing interim supplies during the transition.

4. The user is also testing Coloplast’s one-piece “adhesive” Sensura Mio barrier/pouch at home, especially during heavy house-cleaning, to see how secure it is.

5. High-output ostomates might find it helpful to use the extra-long "jumbo" pouch at night to minimize sleep disruptions.

6. Many users have expressed long-term satisfaction with Coloplast products, particularly appreciating the flexibility of their wafers compared to Convatec.

7. Some users have mixed feelings about the Sensura Mio Click two-piece coupling. While some find it comparable to Hollister’s locking system, others are not fans and suggest trying both the Click and adhesive styles to see which works best for you.

8. When using very large pouches, consider supportive garments like "ostomy bag underwear" to help manage the size. Some users are experimenting with designs that have honeycomb or compartment features.

9. If you live near Baltimore, keep an eye out for a study by Johns Hopkins on ostomy supplies, as they are looking for volunteers to provide feedback.

10. The brands mentioned in this discussion include Coloplast (Sensura Mio line, Click system, adhesive system), Hollister, and Convatec.
