Sunbathing as a Naturist with a Medical Bag

This topic is about finding ways to discreetly manage a urostomy bag while enjoying sunbathing as a naturist. A long-time naturist, who now uses a torso-mounted urine collection bag after bladder removal, is seeking advice on how to minimize the bag's appearance to avoid making others uncomfortable at naturist venues. Here are some thoughtful suggestions and insights shared by others:

1. Consider using a StealthBelt, which is recommended by several people. While it won't make the pouch invisible, it helps keep it flat and supported.

2. OstomySecrets offers wraps made from stretch fabric with an internal pocket to hold the pouch close to the body. You can buy these directly or have a similar wrap sewn locally if shipping is an issue.

3. For a DIY approach, use soft, stretchy, flesh-colored fabric to create a wrap. Add an interior pocket the width of the wrap to cradle the pouch, and use Velcro at the back for a seamless front. A seamstress can easily make one for you.

4. Decorative covers are another option. You can use ready-made ostomy bag covers or decorate your own pouches to blend in or make a fashion statement.

5. Applying camo or patterned duct tape to the bag (not the skin) is a cost-effective way to change its color or pattern. Just be sure to remove it carefully to avoid damaging the pouch.

6. Transform the belt or wrap into a "money pouch" or "sporran"-style accessory. This can help reframe it as functional apparel, potentially deflecting negative comments.

7. Focus on support, not just appearance. Keeping the bag lifted prevents it from hanging heavily, protects the seal and skin, and provides comfort while walking or lying in the sun.

8. Remember that most naturists are accepting of differences. Enjoy your sunbathing experience and be ready to ignore or politely address any occasional criticism.
