The Anti-Bucket List

This topic is all about celebrating the incredible achievements people have accomplished after undergoing ostomy surgery. Instead of focusing on a traditional bucket list of things to do, this is an "anti-bucket list" that highlights the amazing things people have already done, thanks to the newfound freedom and second chance at life that many feel after their surgery. Here are some of the inspiring accomplishments shared:

- Becoming a parent, which is a life-changing and joyous experience.
- Traveling internationally to places like Korea, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Germany, and France, as well as exploring the United States.
- Enjoying annual snowmobile trips in Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
- Starting a rental-property business, showcasing entrepreneurial spirit.
- Watching children achieve success in state and national sporting events such as track & field, baseball, and softball.
- Celebrating 20 years of marriage in the beautiful Napa Valley with lifelong friends.
- Attending the iconic Kentucky Derby.
- Experiencing the thrill of catching tires in the pit at a NASCAR race.

Others have shared their own post-surgery achievements and insights:

- One member finds inspiration in Tennyson’s “Ulysses,” emphasizing the determination "to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield," reminding us that great achievements are possible regardless of age or health challenges.
- Physical accomplishments include climbing Mount Snowdon, a feat that seemed impossible before the surgery.
- Celebrating a 41-year marriage anniversary, a testament to enduring love and partnership.
- Traveling to breathtaking destinations like Alaska and Hawaii, including the awe-inspiring experience of sitting on the rim of an ancient volcano.
- Enjoying outdoor activities such as deer hunting and riding off-road vehicles on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula trails, highlighting the restored freedom and active lifestyle post-surgery.
