Weird?

This topic is about someone who has a double ostomy and misses the feeling of being completely free and naked, especially in nature. They used to dream of visiting nudist resorts and going on long, clothes-free hikes. However, life with two ostomy pouches seemed to put an end to that dream. The recent hot weather made wearing the appliances even more uncomfortable, so they decided to remove both pouches in the privacy of their backyard. Lying naked on the grass, they found the experience amazing, despite some embarrassment and itchiness. They wanted to share this with others who might feel the same way.

Here are some pieces of advice and insights shared by others:

1. If you plan to lie on the grass, be prepared for itching, insects, and weeds. Using a blanket, towel, or choosing a well-manicured lawn can help reduce discomfort and keep critters away.

2. Be cautious of sun exposure. People who have visited nude beaches warn that skin not used to being uncovered, including the stoma area, can burn quickly. It's important to use strong sunscreen.

3. Many people with ostomies miss feeling truly naked and struggle with body image due to scars. Brief moments without the pouch, like during appliance changes or private backyard time, can be emotionally beneficial.

4. Some ostomates, like a nudist in Australia, practice "letting the bag flap free" for comfort. However, be careful around heat sources, such as hot-air-balloon burners.

5. Ensure your backyard is private and secure from neighbors' views to avoid any awkward encounters.

6. Embrace humor and acceptance. Light-hearted jokes like "fertilize the grass" or "free the bag" can help normalize life with an ostomy and encourage others to find safe, dignity-affirming ways to enjoy their bodies.
