High Output in Early Hours with Looped Ileostomy

This topic is about dealing with high output and leakage from a looped ileostomy, especially during the early morning hours. People with a looped ileostomy often experience increased stoma output at night, which can lead to leaks. Here are some tips and insights shared by others who have faced similar challenges:

1. Many people with a looped ileostomy notice high output during the night. One effective strategy is to empty the pouch around 2 a.m. to prevent it from overfilling, which helps avoid leaks.

2. Another approach is to use a larger pouch system at night. One person found success by using the largest Hollister system available:
- Hollister 16-inch drainable pouch #3874
- Hollister flange #8724
They use this longer pouch only at night and switch back to a shorter pouch during the day.
