Finding Love and Acceptance with My Stoma and Size

This topic is about rebuilding confidence and finding a supportive partner after undergoing ostomy surgery. The person sharing their story has been living with a stoma since 2009 and has faced challenges in relationships due to their condition. They are concerned about their body image and worry about finding someone who will accept them as they are.

Here are some pieces of advice and insights shared by others:

1. Many people believe that the right partner will appreciate the life-saving aspect of the ostomy and will not be bothered by the bag. They share stories of their own partners who are grateful for their improved health and pain-free life.

2. Building confidence is key. Acting as if the bag is not a big deal can help others see it the same way. When you project confidence, it often encourages others to respond positively, which can help boost your self-esteem.

3. Prioritize self-care, both physically and emotionally, before entering the dating scene. Taking care of yourself can enhance your confidence and attract people who are supportive and understanding.

4. Many people emphasize that the person is beautiful and has a great sense of humor. They suggest that strangers might be looking because of these positive traits, rather than focusing on her size or the bag.

5. A partner of someone with an ostomy shares that genuine and caring partners do exist. He views the bag as a positive change that has improved his girlfriend's quality of life.

6. Allow relationships to develop naturally. Often, someone special will come into your life when you least expect it.
