Reversal of Stoma

This topic is about someone who has recently had their stoma reversed and is looking for advice and shared experiences to help them navigate the recovery process.

- They are concerned because their rectum hasn't started functioning yet after the reversal, and they are hopeful it will start working soon.
- They are also dealing with an incisional or para-stomal hernia, which makes their abdomen feel like a football, making it hard to exercise and get fit.

Here are some helpful pieces of advice and insights:

1. Be cautious with heavy lifting and intense gym activities, as these can aggravate or worsen a post-surgical hernia. It's best to take it easy until you're fully healed.
2. After a reversal, you might experience altered or reduced sensation in the anal area, which can be emotionally challenging. This is a common experience and may take some time to adjust to.
3. When bowel function returns, passing stool might feel strong or different, and clothing might feel uncomfortable over the surgical site. Wearing looser garments can help ease this discomfort.
