Ostomy Wraps

The topic is about using ostomy wraps for everyday support and swimming. The original poster is curious about how effective these wraps are, especially when it comes to swimming, and is seeking feedback from others who have experience with them. Here are some insights and advice shared by others:

1. General swimming without a wrap:
- Many people swim in pools or the ocean with just their regular bathing suit and pouching system.
- The adhesive usually holds up well, with some mentioning a wear time of up to 10 days.
- It's helpful to use the small sticker that comes with most pouches to cover the filter. For extra security, you can add Coloplast Brava Elastic Barrier Strips to the edges.

2. Wrap or sleeve options and experiences:
- Maternity "tummy sleeves" can be used to hide the pouch at the beach. They might cause some pancaking, but this often happens when it's time for a change anyway.
- Popular commercial ostomy wraps include OstomySecrets Wraps and Stealth Belt Everyday Wraps.
- One person alternates between OstomySecrets and Stealth Belt wraps for swimming in pools and the ocean and recommends both.
- Another person wears an ostomy sleeve or wrap all the time, has four of them, and rotates their use. They find the support very helpful, especially when combined with a fitted hernia belt, which they wear when not sleeping.

3. Fit and function notes:
- Some people find that the pouch compartment in wraps is shallower than in traditional ostomy briefs. This is fine for sleeping but might not be ideal for very full bags.
- High-waisted swimsuits are suggested as an alternative or complement to wraps.

4. Practical reminders:
- It's important to stay well-hydrated when swimming.
- If you're using a wrap for bag support, consider pairing it with a dedicated hernia belt for extra abdominal support.
