ANOTHER WAR AND MORE 11 (stomas 2)
Before the war, it should be said
these present thoughts weren’t in my head,
my stoma was no problem and
medics might be close at hand.
But, since the war, all things have changed
and now our lives are rearranged
so much so, that one might think
nothing of a stoma stink.
Now medics are preoccupied
with the wounded and those who died,
so stomas slip right down the list
of many minor things now missed.
Before the war my stoma was
much more manageable because
supplies were there and could be bought
but now supplies amount to nought
Bombs are dropping all around
and mutilated bodies found,
which must now take priority
in this destroyed society.
Before the war, we knew the score
and what the bags and wipes were for,
but now these luxuries are gone
how do you think we carry on?
Everyone’s now in the shit
but we’re the ones who cope with it
coming from our stomas so
I just thought you ought to know.
But now there is another blight
where there’s no food, which isn’t right
yet without input, nowt comes out
and that’s what starvation is about.
What I have learned about this war
and other wars that went before,
is they are evil, as are they
who perpetrate these wars today.
