My WOCN suggested Head and Shoulders to use around the stoma. Hope this helps.

I use it to wash around my stoma. It works well to keep any irritation away.

I got Head and Shoulders to try. If nothing else, my stoma won't have dandruff.

A mermaid! They have natural protection, especially such an attractive one. But really, an ostomy nurse on this forum recommended that particular shampoo not for its dandruff-killing properties but for the zinc in it.

Dial soap works best for me. I don't keep the soap on very long during daily showers.

Although now retired, I always seem to be in a hurry to go nowhere.

May seem like a dumb question, but do you use the Head & Shoulders as a shampoo only or also as a soap for around the stoma?

May seem like a dumb question, but is the Head & Shoulders to be used just as a shampoo or can it also be used as a soap for around the stoma? Thanks.

Was advised to use Ivory or Dial as they contained no additives. Found Dial to be adequate most of the time. Ivory worked always. The trouble is the store where I usually go quit handling it. So I buy from Amazon.

I use shampoo. It cleans well and doesn't leave a residue. Just make sure to use plain or cleaning type shampoo that doesn't have moisturizer in it. For years, I've used Tresemme deep clean, but it's been difficult to find. Lately, I've been using a very small amount of Head and Shoulders or Equate cleaning shampoo. Being male, I have to shave the area. I'll use a small amount of shampoo on the area, shave, and then use a small amount of shampoo to wash. You can try washing a different area with shampoo first before using it under your wafer if you are concerned about irritation. I've never had a problem. Good luck.
