I don't have to worry about whether I wipe my pee from front to back or back to front any more, since there's nothing back there to drag to my urethra and cause a UTI. Super clean butt all the time. My OCD personal habits keep my gear clean and tidy. Still trying to find the perfect gear to prevent leaks, and am making progress. Am able to recognize a leak before it escapes from under the base.

And if I ever feel well enough to go anywhere, I can leave the house according to MY schedule, not my bowel's!

I love my stoma. It not only saved my life (blockage), it gave me my life back. I actually begged my surgeon to give me my ileo. He tried to talk me out of it, wanting to just do a resection again. I was done with being sick and having surgeries. I'm glad I stuck with my decision. It's the best thing I've done for myself after 23 years of Crohn's. I do what I want, I'm loving my life. Ain't no stopping me now. I have catching up to do.

Yeah a year ago I wouldn't have known what to ask to find out I had a parastomal hernia. The only reason I knew about them is from this site. Thank goodness for this site. Otherwise I would still be clueless. If I hadn't though from stuff on here to ask my surgeon about having a hernia, then I would have never had the CT and I would have never known that she should have known about it a year ago.
