I'd recommend the Halo Ostomy Guard. Small, compact, and lightweight, and virtually indestructible, perfect for being seatbelted or wearing a belt.

In my opinion, having good support as close to the stoma as possible makes a drastic difference.

Secondly, if you can support the full weight of the pouch, it is best, and it helps reduce skin irritation and leakage.

There have been quite a few studies that show the benefits of this combination.

The most recent one at the University of Miami studied the quality of life on ostomy support belts.

This site is a godsend. As a newbie (colostomy on Nov 8, '21), I look at it every day for a number of reasons. Reading what people are going through makes me grateful that my elective surgery because of a severe case of IBS-C is nothing compared to what they have been through and are still living with.

I don't have to go to the hospital for anything related to my ostomy. I feel sorry for those who do and am in awe of those who can use humor to describe their ordeal. I identify with those who express their fears. I especially identify with those who are depressed because I am clinically depressed and have general anxiety disorder. How ironic that having a colostomy eliminated some of the depression and anxiety that the IBS created. I've been widowed twice and I'm on match.com.
I immediately included my operation in my profile and am pleased to say it doesn't seem to make a difference.

And there is much humor on this site and it's one of the reasons I enjoy it so much.

I could name numerous things I've learned from reading people's comments/questions/answers.

After months following on a daily basis, my only negative comment is I don't like listing the most popular members.
It's not that I don't like these people; I do. It's that I think it elicits some "Facebook"-like banter or comments that are gratuitous.

I don't do any social media and think that its merits are overshadowed by too much negativity.

Meetanostomate is in no way negative. I just think the gallery of "popularity" detracts from what is an excellent website that deals with a serious issue that causes a myriad of emotions.

Yes, there's a specific technique designed to ensure that we can provide the proper support for your hernia while still allowing the bags to fill up fully so it doesn't impede the flow. I totally agree that if you just wear something too tight across your body, it's just going to cause leaks and irritation.

Thank you for the explanation. I had my ostomy surgery in Aug 2024 and spent almost 2 months in the hospital. The Stealth Belt videos had me sold on your design, but, as explained earlier, I became very frustrated.

Now that I know what happened, I will consider ordering my next belt from your new company.

The thin belts cut into my belly and love handles as a bigger woman with a muffin top. I can't sit without it cutting into my sides. Hurts too bad; it's off in 5 seconds.

Trish. I sent you a connection and form from Stealth Medical in Hawaii last August. MaO blocked me. They only allow info from companies that pay them! I have a reinforced one for my prolapse and a regular vertical belt. The regular is 6 inches wide. The custom is 7 inches wide, and the strap is 1 inch wider. It should hold your muffin properly.

Those thin straps hurt me when I move or bend over. I get the wide white belt for free; insurance pays—cheap! They restrict my movements and rubbed my midsection raw. If I were an invalid, it would work. Wraps are not adjustable and won't stay with your body movements. Stealth belts do. Soft stretchy material and two adjustable Velcro overlaps. It got me up Clingman's Dome and Stony Man Mt.
