I have been spending a lot of money on deodorants for my pouch. I don't want to spend so much, and I'm hoping someone could give me some alternative ideas?

M9 drops are the only thing I use. Unless I eat sushi and eggs together, they work like a charm.

Tic Tacs are what some people use. I have tried peppermint Lifesavers; they work somewhat. On here, others use essential oils. Try OstoAI to see what has been said.

Thank you for your quick reply. I'll discuss irrigation with my doctor. I'm sure it would be down the road. My output is still very liquid. It's all so unpredictable at 6 weeks post-op. I have such a fear of constipation as I struggled with this forever. I used a fiber source to thicken the stool but it hasn't helped very much. I guess I will continue to be positive but it is a bit of a pain. This website is great and everyone is so informative. Cheryl

If it's a must that you need a deodorant, try popping in peppermint Altoids. Good luck 👍

Baking soda does it for me.  Cheap and effective.

I mix Adapt lubricant (1 tsp.) and hydrogen peroxide (1 tbsp.). Alberta covers 1 bottle of Adapt every 2 months, and I buy the peroxide at Walmart in a 500 ml bottle, which is very reasonably priced. If you're afraid to use peroxide, I was thinking mouthwash would work as well. I've never had any problems with the peroxide; otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

I've tried many different products, and the one that works best for me is M9 drops from Hollister. On the bottle, it says "destroys odors in ostomy pouches", and for me, it lives up to that statement.

I used to live in Toronto, Canada, and I remember that my OHIP or medical insurance covered all of my supplies, including deodorant. I prefer Perfect Ostomy Super Strength NON-Lubricating Deodorant. For days when odor is bad from eating fish or eggs, I use Devrom tablets that I take by mouth. They were also covered by my health care.

I have used mouthwash too. Just try to get one without alcohol.

I use essential oils, vanilla and eucalyptus, and also spray my underwear with a liberal amount of body deodorant.

Our CVS has a Listerine that is alcohol-free.

Silica gel packets absorb odor. They're expensive through Convotec, but I get a bag of 100 on Amazon for $5.00. They also absorb excess liquid really well.
