Sally, not yet. I haven't decided which way I want to go yet. LOL

And yes, everyone has been so extremely helpful and lots of good tips and tricks!

Hi Deb,

As you can see, the outpouring of love and support from this website will help you to find the strength to lift yourself up and out of your current emotional situation. I am lucky to have my husband by my side through all of this, so I will not even pretend to know how you feel and what you're going through alone. I do know that I have great friends on this site and in my life that have been by my side, and hopefully you have many by your side as well. You do have a lot of new friends here. Please feel free to talk through anything that is on your mind. We all go through a confidence deficit when we go through an ostomy surgery. Our body has been marred and your mind feels that way sometimes too. It is tough to move on, but you will. You will be stronger once you realize that you are still the beautiful woman you were prior to your surgery. Hopefully, you can reach out to a local support group and find some additional friends in your same situation. It always helps to have a sounding board wherever you find it!

Hey pro tip: if you decide to use a disposable razor or trimmer, hold an empty toilet paper roll tube over the stoma as you shave to protect from nicks.

Wow, lots of tips. The razors didn't work for me. I couldn't get close enough to the stoma. So, being me, I use my skinning knife.

Nice! A sharp shave with a baby smooth finish. Talk about sending the doctors nuts when they ask what I use. Well, do what you need to get a nice smooth shave.

G'day Beth, it's IGGIE again.

I use a disposable razor and the hairs close to the stoma I pull out with tweezers. I hope you find what is right for you. IGGIE

Being male, I have a lot of hair. I use a low-profile razor around the area, close to the stoma. I use a rotary nose hair trimmer to get hair that is very close to the stoma. You can also use an electric razor. Good luck.

If you use an electric shaver, use only a rotary blade shaver. They can't cut you.

LOL, a couple of years late for the reply. I appreciate you trying, though. My skin is way too sensitive to shave in any way, shape, or form. Even the skin on my legs, when I shave, gets irritated no matter what I do or what razor or type of razor I use.
