My two cents!

As a long-time ileostomate, I will say that Eakin rings are the absolute best—at least for me. I have tried the others with no success.

Geekyjen,

Thanks for the reply.  I will be seeing my doctor on Friday and mention Entyvio.  I did not remain paralyzed for more than 2 days, but it was terrible and I was so scared.  The doctors just used alot of xanax and other drugs like that to UN paralyze my joints that were being attacked by the remicade.  Turns out I have been diagnosed with LUPUS. It is attacking my nervous system.  I had ulcerative colitis in 1996 and they had to remove my colon.  Had a J pouch for 10 years, until it started failing.  I then got a permanent iliosomy, and I suffer from severe chronic diareha, and I dehydrate frequently.  I recently had a proctectomy, and that is when the new autoimmune disorder, Lupus, appeared.  I have had two hospital stays now because of the blisters and the paralyzing incident.  I will be dealing with this forever now.  I have just been working on acceptance.

I love this website because of wonderful people like you!

Betty

Gotta go back to watching White Lotus now. Someone's going to die soon!

I just heard about this show. How is it?

I don't think it will win any awards, but it's good fun. Three seasons, and it always starts with knowing someone is murdered; then it retraces to the beginning.

Sounds like I might have to try and watch it. And hey, some of this stuff that wins awards really shouldn't, and the good shows that should don't, or they get canceled, unfortunately.

Pete, do you leave any room between the appliance and the ring?

I try to get as close as I can, but sometimes there is a small gap, which is fine. I do put Prep protective skin barrier, made by Coloplast, around my colostomy and the skin surrounding it to protect my skin from any bowel that might touch my skin. I do irrigate, so I don't usually have any issues, but there are times it does its own thing. I think we are told by so-called professionals what we need or how to cover our ostomies, and they are textbook taught; to me, they have no real clue, just what they are taught. Try different things and see what works for you.

Hope this helps.

I have used Hollister Ceraplus bags almost all the time since my op 2 years ago, and I always use adhesive remover with no issues. It definitely doesn't seem to affect the adhesion. I've tried several other brands of bags and keep going back to the Hollister because they stick so reliably! All the other bags seemed more prone to leaks or the wafer gradually coming unstuck, but I've never had that issue with the Hollister.

G-Day eefyjig,

Did you eventually get a seal/ring that finally worked okay?

Yes, Warrior sent me some Hollister Adapt Convex Barrier Rings; they're working most of the time.

Great news, it's nice when things work for you.
