Greetings, ostofriends. I haven't piped up about anything in a long while and wanted to let you know that I still think of y'all fondly.

I was the person with the bad stoma-redo a year ago, the unpouchable cherry-in-a-funnel stoma. What a frickfracking mess.

Got a revision of the revision in February that gave some relief but none of the no-leak joy of years gone by. Expressed that to the 2nd surgeon and he responded to the conundrum by referring me to plastics to lipo away the funnel.

Then COVID hit, everything shut down.

Then four fingers were cut off at work and that took over everything, so no posting, no lipo, no piano playing (kidding, I don't play piano or any instrument). That was in the last 1/3 of April. Thank God it was my nondominant hand. It's still a big deal though - hands and fingers are amazing.

Typing has been a bitch, but I'm acclimating by saying hello to everyone.

I just finished reading the Ostomy Tips Book under COLLECTIONS at the top of the page. I did not realize how much information was there. It covers a lot

of things that people have questions about. Hope this may answer some things for people. Best wishes and stay safe

Well hi, Bellily! So you've been busy, eh? Sorry to hear your revision's revision didn't turn out as planned. That's got to suck, big time. But about those stoma plugs you have on your hand there... care to elaborate on what happened? It's got to be different than the routine things we talk about on here all the time... so how, pray tell, did you do that?

Welcome back,

bob

Good grief, Bellily, you're a tough one.

I'm hoping you win the lottery soon or something similar; you deserve an extra big slice of good luck and good times, you've certainly earned it.

Axl

It's a sordid tale, Bob. My work partner and I were trying to reseat a belt on the print shop collator/stitcher, on a section that had the safety switch disabled (before my tenure there), and he accidentally pushed a button while I was holding the belt. Here's the badass looking prosthetic I got a couple of months ago (looks cool but isn't helpful for typing or bag changes though):

Hi Belily, cool-looking prosthetic, but I'm sorry for what you had to go through to get it. I had a friend lose two fingers from a cable suddenly going taut on a wrecker boom, and he said that's the worst pain he's ever felt.

Hello Belily.

Thanks for coming on here and sharing your story. As everyone else has said, I wish you the very best in your adjustment and I do like the look of the prosthetic, even though I would not want the dubious pleasure of having to wear one.

Before Covid19, my wife ran a regular weekly group for stroke victims, so we are well aware of the problems facing people who lose the use of a limb and, of course, the fingers on the end of it. They were asking if I would write some appropriate poetry to capture the concept. However, whilst I would love to accomodate this request, many of them have also lost the use of speech, which makes it hard to empathise with their 'feelings' on the subject, because they cannot communicate effectively. I have written one or two rhymes for those who are able to communicate, but I feel that my puny efforts are simply not enough. Maybe, when this Covid thing is over and the group is able to meet again , I can give it another go.

Best wishes

Bill.

Hi Bellily,  Your positive attitude in facing such adversity is admirable and inspiring.  I think we could all use a little reality check when facing our daily frustrations, be they leaks or other issues with our ostomy, or not being able to do the things we want because of Covid. Thanks for checking in and sharing your story and I wish you all the good things in life that you so deserve.  And don't be a stranger!

Terry

Wow! Girl, 2020 has struck you big time. You seem to be doing amazingly well. Attitude is half of the battle. That is having a good one and giving some sometimes!

Hope your recovery continues! Cool bionics! The 6 million dollar hand! Lindsay Wagner would be proud!

Take care,

Puppyluv
