Hi everyone, I'm new here.  I've had my colostomy for 5 months now, after emergency surgery.  While I'm coping well with the ostomy (she's called Stomie), for the past 2 weeks my tum has been really bloated and uncomfortable on both sides (kinda dips in around the scar area) and feels larger when I'm standing.  I've been under quite a lot of stress recently, and have definitely been turning to food, and eating too much (comfort eating).  Today I'm planning on fasting, and increasing my fluid intake.

Has anyone else experienced this please - is this just a case of 'Your over-eating and what do you expect type' of thing?  I watched the hernia video yesterday, and don't think it's that as it's on both sides - but feeling quite stressed about it.

Suggestions, comments please.  Many thanks.

Hi Cat mac the main thing is your output the same, do you empty as often as before and if not maybe you have a partial blockage in which case more fluids might help.  good luck

I’ve only been on this site a little bit, I hardly know how to navigate it, LOL! I just want to say that everyone seems so kind and supportive to each of the members and it’s not only helpful, it makes me happy that there really are so many nice people in this world that can sometimes feel so bleak and cold. I didn’t even know about this site until I found it by accident. I think the hospital staff should bring it to their patients’ attention. Thanks to all, even if you’re just listening!

Hi Ron, thanks.  The output is the same, if not more, so I don't believe it's a blockage (fingers crossed anyway).
