Hi!

Am I crazy or do soft coated gel tablets digest better than the chalky pill?  I am wondering specifically about Lomotil.  I notice a difference between Immodium and Lomotil- thinking Lomotil is better for me.  I know we are all different, but I am chasing down the pretty blue tablet form- as I believe they are better for me than the tiny chalk ones.  Now, the pharmacy only gives me tiny white.  Am I nutz?

Thanks- Amy

Hello Silly Illy.

No! I definitely don't think you're nutz.

When I was on immodium, I could not get the dosage right with the pills they gave me and, (as is my wont), I had a moan at the doctors and nurses about this. Eventually, I moaned to a surgeon who said that there was an easy solution to my problem and prescribed it for me in a liquid form. I was able to persuade the pharmacist to  give me a small syringe which allowed me to measure much more precisely what dose I needed.

Now, I don't know if the other doctors did not know about this product or whether there was some other reason why they did not suggest it. I only know that by keeping bringing the subject up with each and every professional I met, eventually a solution was found.

I hope you manage to fine a solution to your problem.

Best wishes

Bill

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, messages, and tips! So many have helped! We are learning as we go, learning the ins and outs of this bag. I have ordered special tape that does not irritate my skin and am now using Domeboro powder before putting on a new bag. My boyfriend says that my skin is so much less red!

Saw an ostomy nurse today; she said my boyfriend is doing everything right. One of my issues is that I am really thin, and my skin is really crinkly due to the surgery. We shall see how this bag goes.

This site is a real blessing. Everyone here is so awesome!
