THERE ARE MORE INCOMPETENTS IN THE WORLD than septic tanks. This is just my suspicion, of course, since I haven’t run the numbers or even checked on Wikipedia. It’s just that everywhere I go, I seem to encounter people who really haven’t a clue what they’re doing. No profession or work assignment is immune from this virus. My neighborhood is lucky to have good garbage collectors, for example, but I’ve seen even this task muffed. When a particular job requires some form of licensure or certification, I see examples of license holders who had to have cheated on the test. And specialists like lawyers and doctors, don’t assume they know what they’re doing, either. I’ve seen enough on this site from people who have endured multiple surgeries to wonder why the surgeon didn’t take care of the problem the first time. “Incompetents,” wrote Larry McMurtry, “invariably make trouble for people other than themselves.” I’m sure there are times when several surgeries are medically necessary, but other times… one has to wonder. And lawyers, don’t get me started. How some of them passed the Bar Exam is beyond me. Fortunately, though, Donald Trump seems to have a monopoly on the bad ones.
Nail on the head again, Henry!! I think a lot of this is the result of many people being pushed into professions for which they have no aptitude. Pushed into jobs that make them miserable, resulting in miserable, horrible, rude, and incompetent people attempting to be happy doing something they hate.
In Ireland and most places probably, family history determines (did in the past, not so much now) the future profession/job for many people. Doctors beget doctors, accountants, priests, etc. Many people in general just hate their jobs and their lives.
Of course, some people just ain't got the gray matter to get the job done, and that's the simple fact of the matter!! Some are actually aware of their deficiencies and are frustrated by the facts of their existence. This does not make for a happy job site or a happy person!! 🤡☘🤯
