Just a little tip for those of you with a colostomy. I was told by someone that Ballerina tea would help me with my bowel movement. Let me tell you it really works, just have a cup a day or every other day. I was taking miralax for the longest time and it was ok but this tea really does the trick. it's hard to find I bought mine in an asian market.

Interesting!  What is it?  (I irrigate so I don't have a problem, but my Mom could use a break from Miralax).

Hi gang,

I was thinking what a great resource this site has been for me since I found it. It would have been really helpful, but maybe a bit scary, to have found it before my ostomy, but that's water under the bridge. But I got thinking about it, and now I'm questioning why doctors and hospitals don't provide this site's contact info to any patient even considering an ostomy today. And how can we change that so potential ostomates can learn about the road ahead for them by getting on here and asking questions before the docs go chop-chop. How exactly do you get all hospitals to provide their patients specific information, like this website?

I just happened to find this site something like 4 years after my ostomy when I Googled "ostomy forum" or something like that. But I never found it during previous searches.....so I found this site pretty much by pure luck. We need to find a way to make this site available to new or soon-to-be ostomates......as that's when we really need to commiserate with fellow ostomates. Anybody have any thoughts on how we do this?

Thanks,

Bob

I do not have a problem and do not need that type of tea. I was nosey what the tea is so I looked it up on the internet and found that it is made up chinese mallow (which I don't reconise) and senna. Here in my country senna leaf tea is a well kown laxative.

Never heard of Ballerina tea over here, wonder if it's the same as green tea, haven't tried that but it's getting popular, think my hernia was caused by the dog pulling on the lead, but the doc doesn't want to operate on me any more and says the mesh gets infected and causes more trouble than leaving things alone unless the stoma becomes blocked and then in my case,it would be an emergency.

Had one blockage but managed to clear it by stopping eating and drinking a lot of fluids, then eventually out popped a small sliver of mushroom!- keep well.
