Hi...just a little bit of advice needed

After recently returning home from hospital in which i had a abdominal tuck and re-siting of my stoma my stoma nurse has made me use "secuplast mouldable thin seals" as im still having problems with my bags leaking. Im using adhesive remover spray and ostoclear but im afraid that half the seal is being left on my skin which im really struggling to remove...shame that the bag isnt sticking as good as the seal to my skin

Ive also got alot of stiches around my stoma which i keep catching as im trying to scrap the seal off with my nails...i have spoken to my stoma nurse about this and all i got was "bare with it"
Does anyone know of anything else i can use as my skin is so sore

many thanks...Tine

hi hon; I use "safe n simple" brand peri-stoma wipes/adhesive remover. They are flushable and there is no alcohol to further irritate your skin. Please be careful picking at the seal with yor fingernails; jeesh you drew the short straw with that nurse! I hope you can find these wipes there...I am in USA. lex

This site was a true lifeline when I first became a member back in 1997. The support I received during the time of a critical time in my life.was greatly needed. I met so many wonderful people that became like family. And fell in love with a wonderful woman from the UK. Visited here and later had her come to me here in the states.

Secuplast are always a pain to get off. Phone your delivery company and ask for some sample's.  I would recommend trying Hollisters seals they seem to come of without leaving all the residue behind, and ask for some addesive remover wipes.

P.S. Don't tell them you have just had surgery or they will say you have to see your stoma nurse.

I use Appeal spray which seems pretty good - although may be a bit strong if you are sore? Ostomart do a wipe/spray with tea tree oil in it which may be a bit kinder?

Hey Tine I used Welland Adhesive Remover Wipes to remove the leftovers of my seals when I changed my bags. They are alcohol free and I never encountered any problems with stinging. They are also very effective in removing any residues.

Hi tine ~ this tip only works with some types of adhesive residue but it's worth a try: direct air from a hair blow dryer set on "cool" towards the residue. After some residues are cooled, you can slide your fingers over them and roll them into little "balls" which are easy to pick off the skin.
