Time is passing by, now getting closer to my op, still not too bad yet.
Hope I can keep smiling. I have been reading lots of stuff on the forum, so I feel confident that I will cope given half a chance. I just took my fella to have his chemo at the hospital; he will be there all day (he has stomach cancer). So there's not a good one between us.

Keep smiling, keep positive, and remember there is always someone here should you need a chat or pick-me-up. x

Take care. x

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, messages, and tips! So many have helped! We are learning as we go, learning the ins and outs of this bag. I have ordered special tape that does not irritate my skin and am now using Domeboro powder before putting on a new bag. My boyfriend says that my skin is so much less red!

Saw an ostomy nurse today; she said my boyfriend is doing everything right. One of my issues is that I am really thin, and my skin is really crinkly due to the surgery. We shall see how this bag goes.

This site is a real blessing. Everyone here is so awesome!

Good grief - I'm sorry you are dealing with medical interventions X2! I do feel the "elective" type surgeries are the hardest when it comes to getting through the waiting period. You will cope fine afterward -- remember a journey of 1,000 miles begins with the first step (which you have made by coming here). BTW: interesting photo - are you by chance another stubborn creature? That will help in your coping! :D

Hi Trudel, it's been 8 years since I had the same surgery. The best advice I could give anyone experiencing this is to keep a positive attitude. It's hard at times, but you will get better sooner.
Wish I had found this site sooner. I've learned so much from the wonderful folks here.
We'll be thinking about you on Tuesday.
Cheers, Bob
