Hey guys, I was just wondering if someone could help. I don't want to sound completely stupid here, but can someone please explain to me what a J-Pouch is without using lots of technical speak? Ha ha x

It's an internal bag fashioned out of your own intestinal plumbing. Mine worked great for years, but precancerous tissues spoiled that party. It's important to have a strong sphincter if you elect to have one. PB

I just wanted to take the time to wish everyone a good holiday. I especially would like to thank this website and the folks that run it and keep it going. This site has been a life saver for me and I am so thankful I found it. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and Hanukka and if you don't claim either holiday, I hope you have a nice day. See you all next year!

The natural way. As much as it can be natural. More frequent, less solid.

Yes. No need to be sorry, we're all here to learn and/or give support. Are you considering getting a J pouch or just curious?

A jpouch sophie is they grab your intestine and create a J like structure to replace your rectum....if all has been removed( Some people who have surgery still have a part of their rectum and more ). If you have an ileo....there are two types, one is the traditional...and one is a loop. The loop most likely indicates you are having a jpouch heal inside. If yours is a traditional, which it sounds like, then you would need either 1 or two more surgeries. Reason for two is when they create the mess and make the pouch, they might want it to heal...and you still will have your ileo. Then would be to what is to be known as the take down....which the surgery is complete. The success of this surgery is high. However, according to Cleveland Clinic studies, 91% is the normal success rate. - Leaving 9% failure. However, there can be side effects.... Sometimes, people can have the surgery done in one step( surgery ). Sphicter exercises are reccomended for having surgery. In a nutshell that is it. Also some of the sides you might want to read...Have a good day.
