I get my ileostomy takedown this week. Any tips or advice?

What type of reversal are you having? Any colon left?

Take it real slow after surgery. Going to be a while before your reconnected plumbing begins working somewhat normally. Try to avoid opioid painkillers.

Good luck!

You are so right.  I will never forget this website and the people who have helped me.  I had my reversal in January of 2014.  I try and come on this website weekly to see if I can help or encourage other individuals get through the day-to-day process of life.

Don't do it! It's a trap!

😁😳🥴. Just messing with you.

Have you done your research?

Pros and cons? Of the reversal? Expectations?

Best of luck.

Like Warrior said, give it a lot of thought and find out all you can. A reversal is not always the right way to go. Regards, IGGIE

Entire colon left. I had a perforation while on chemo. Getting an ileostomy was my quickest path to not interrupting my chemo cycles. Now that I'm in remission, I am moving forward with my reversal.

Yep, it was always temporary. I had a perforation from my chemo/cancer.

Yep, I know it's the best thing for a lot of people. Mine was always temporary from a bowel perforation.

That's a good point; unfortunately, I'm sure it will be painful too.

You've got this. Enjoy the use of that whole colon again. 😃
